So, you’ve hired a Virtual Assistant or Project Manager, but still need additional support in your business. Or you’ve hired everyone that you need and now you’re ready to take a step back in your business but want it to continue to run like a well oiled machine even in your absence. There’s a role for that. Online Business Manager (OBM).
When do you hire a Online Business Manager?
You can hire an Online Business Manager at anytime. It doesn’t make sense obviously, when you are just getting started in business. But, the sooner that you bring in an Online Business Manager, the better your business will be foundationally. OBMs can help you with things like hiring, standard operating procedures, and team management.
A good OBM is someone who can keep your business running while you do things like take a vacation where you really unplug and don’t have to constantly log in to answer emails or assist a team member or complete that task you don’t trust anyone else with. You should be able to trust your OBM to handle those things and come back to find your business still in tact and still earning revenue.
What types of Online Business Managers are there?
OBM or DBM
- Online Business Manager
- An OBM is an online expert that can help you to manage your online team, make strategic business decisions, and give you more freedom to step away from managerial aspects of your role.
- Digital Business Manager
- It’s the same as an OBM. Honestly, I believe that because the market was already cornered on the term OBM that someone created DBM so that their own certifications/trainings don’t get lost in the sea of OBM certifications that had already dominated the market. Also, people use the term online and digital interchangeably, so that’s why you’ll see entrepreneurs presenting themselves as either or. I won’t be surprised if I see someone create a new program and market it for/to Virtual Business Managers to corner the market and SEO on that term. 🤷🏾♀️
Am I ready for the next level of online support?
For the most part, I’ve discussed the 3 types of hires you’ll likely make in your online business. What they call themselves may not be exactly the same, but in general their role usually aligns with a Virtual Assistant, Project Manager, or Online Business Manager.
